Biography
Bipin Rawat hails from a family of army personnel. His father was also a Lt. Army General who served the country. He was born in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. His family has been serving the army since generations. He attended St. Edward’s School, Shimla and Cambrian Hall Boarding School, Dehradun.
He then attended Indian Military Academy, Dehradun and also won the sword of honor reward. He then graduated from Defense Services Staff College, Wellington Cantonment, Tamil Nadu, and Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA. He was also awarded the Doctorate of Philosophy by Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut for his military-media strategies.
Career
General Bipin Rawat was given the 5th battalion of 11 Gorkha Rifles on 16th December 1978, and since then he has been serving as the army personnel. He has also commanded many other forces. General Rawat has also held the staff assignments. He assumed as the General Office Commanding in chief of army staff on 1 January 2016. He has also been a part of many battles.
