Mohan Raja started his career in the entertainment sector in the year 2001, with his directorial debut from the Telugu action comedy film Hanuman Junction, which was a remake of a Malayalam film. He then made his first Tamil film in the year 2003, called Jayam, which was also a remake of a famous Telugu film of the same name. He then directed M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi, Something Something… Unakkum Enakkum, Thillalangadi, Velayudham and many other films. He won the Filmfare award for the best director for his films- Santosh Subramaniam and Thani Oruvan.
