As we know the mayor will be elected only by the party who wins at least 114 seats out of 227 seats. They may also make an alliance with the other major party to turn the coin. Shiv Sena has high influence in the people of Mumbai so it will be very difficult for the other party to win the election there, even BJP may be suffering so it the target of BJP to make alliance with Shiv Sena and be the part of the winning party. If we see the scenario of the 2012 elections, then we can see that Shiv Sena has got the highest number of seats which was 75 out of 227. So, it will be quite difficult for the other regional and national parties to compete and win by majority. Some of the major parties competing Mumbai BMC Election are INC, BJP, NCP, MNS, SP and Shiv Sena.
