Begum Jaan is an upcoming Hindi Movie which is directed by the famous director Srijit Mukherji. The movie has been produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt under the production banner of the Vishesh Films. The distribution right has been sold to the RNA Play Entertainment for Begum Jaan. The shooting and photography of the movie have been completed for the movie and is scheduled to be released on April 17, 2017.
Star Cast
The movie has many actors in the lead roles. However, Vidya Balan would lead the star cast with her strong presence as Begum Jaan. The movie would also feature Naseruddin Shah, Gauhar Khan, Ridhima Tiwari, Pallavi Sharda, Ila Arun, Mishti, Rajat Kapoor, Chunky Pandey and much more. However, the movie would revolve around Vidya Balan and other ladies.
Story
The movie is based on the time of the 1947 Partition of India. The movie is an adaptation of a Bengali Movie named Rajkahini that starred Rituparna Sengupta. Begum Jaan is a story of a Brothel where these ladies used to stay and Begum Jaan was the head of them. The story is about the fight for their existence, survival and their agony during and after the partition of India when East Pakistan was carved out of the then Bengal which later became Bangladesh. The gripping tale of Begum Jaan would tell the world that how they fought against the tyranny and bring the horrific side of the partition of India.
Total Budget
The historical drama has been set up in a set recreating the then West and East Bengal. The movie has reportedly been made for a whopping budget of close to INR 30-40 Crores. However, reports believe that post production may slightly increase the budget of the movie to INR 45 Crores.
