DOE Frequently Asked Questions for Parents on Online EWS/DG Admission (2017-18)

There are many questions in parents mind regarding admission for EWS and DG category in Private Unaided Recognized Schools of Delhi. The Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi has mentioned some most important questions answers on their website regarding ews/dg admissions:

Q.1. What is the meaning of EWS/DG Category?

Ans:- EWS stands for Economically Weaker Section and DG stands for Disadvantaged Group.

Q.2. What is the meaning of ONLINE ADMISSIONS of EWS & DG Category?

Ans:- It means that application form for admissions of EWS/DG Category shall be filled through the website of Education Department, Govt of NCT of Delhi i.e www.edudel.nic.in

Q.3. What is the name of the link on the website of the department?

Ans:- The name of the link is ‘EWS/DG Admissions 2016-17’ which is available on the main page www.edudel.nic.in

Q.4. What is the procedure for filling the admission form under EWS/DG category in Private Unaided Recognized schools of Delhi?

Ans:- Click the link ‘EWS/DG Admissions 2016-17’ and read the instructions carefully, get registered, complete application form, take print out and wait for the date of draw of lots which will be announced in due course of time.

Q.5. Where are the instructions available?

Ans:- Instructions (along with the video) can be seen by clicking the link ‘EWS/DG Admissions 2016-17’ which is available on the main page www.edudel.nic.in

Q.6. In which of the schools, online admission of EWS/DG category can be sought?

Ans:- All Private Unaided Recognized Schools of Delhi (Except Minority) recognized by Directorate of Education under the Delhi School Education Act & Rules, 1973. The list of such schools along with the available entry level class can be seen on “EWS/DG Admissions 2016-17” link.

Q.7. In which class EWS/DG Admissions can be sought online ?

Ans:- This online module has been designed only for admission under EWS/DG category in any of the Entry Level Class i.e Nursery/Pre-School, KG/Pre-primary and Class-I.

Q.8. What percentage of seats under EWS/DG category is available in a school?

Ans:- At least 25% of total seats at the entry level class of a school.

Q.9. Who comes under EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category?

Ans:- A Child whose parents annual family income from all sources is less than one lakh rupees.

Q.10. Who comes under the DG (Disadvantaged Group) category?

Ans:- A child belonging to –

  1. Scheduled Caste
  2. Scheduled Tribe

iii. OBC (Non-Creamy layer)

  1. Child with special needs suffering from disability, as defined in ‘Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995’.
  2. Orphans as defined in Juvenile Justice Act
  3. Transgender

(There is no need to submit any income certificate for these categories as no income limit is prescribed for them.)

Q.11. What are the documents required for EWS/DG category?

Ans:- For EWS:-

Income- Certificate issued by a Revenue Officer not below the rank of

Tehsildar or BPL/AAY/ Food Security Card issued by Food and Civil Supply

Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

For DG:-

(i) SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) certificate issued by Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar of Govt. of NCT of Delhi.

(ii) Children with Special Needs/Disabled: – Certificate issued by Govt. Hospital

(iii) Orphan and Transgender: – Documentary evidence.

Q.12. If I have BPL/AAY/Food Security Card, then is it necessary to have income certificate to apply under EWS category?

Ans:- No. Only one of these documents is required.

Q.13. I have BPL card but the name of the child is not mentioned. Can I apply under EWS category?

Ans:- The name of the child must be there on the BPL card. Please get it added to apply.

Q.14. I have Food Security Card but it does not have any date of issue. How can I proceed online?

Ans:- Filling the date of issue is not mandatory in case of Food Security Card. You can proceed without filling it also.

Q.15. I have the caste certificate but my child does not have the same. Can I apply for admission under DG category?

Ans:- Yes, you can apply on the basis of your caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC- Non Creamy, whichever applicable) provided that it has been issued by the Revenue Department (DC/DM office), GNCT of Delhi.

Q.16. My caste certificate has been issued by another State. Will it be valid for admission of my ward under DG category?

Ans:- No. The caste certificate has to be issued by the Revenue Department (DC/DM office), GNCT of Delhi.

Q.17. If the validity of my Income certificate has expired, then how can I apply?

Ans:- The validity of your Income certificate is mentioned on the certificate itself. If it has expired, then you can apply afresh to Revenue Department for issue of new Income certificate and then use the ”Applied For” option in the Online application and then apply using the receipt/application number of the Income certificate.

Q.18. My income/caste certificate has not been issued yet. It is still under process. Then how can I apply?

Ans:- Use the”Applied For” option in the online application and then apply using the receipt/application number of the Income/Caste certificate.

Q.19. I do not have any proof of Date of Birth of my child. How can I apply?

Ans:- A written declaration/undertaking from parents about the date of birth is treated as a valid proof of date of birth of the child.

Q.20. In my Income certificate, my income has been wrongly mentioned as slightly greater than Rs. 1 lakh. In the birth certificate, some of the details of my child have been wrongly mentioned. How can I apply?

Ans:- You must contact the competent authorities for necessary corrections in your documents before filling the online application.

Q.21. What are the documents that can be considered as proof of address?

Ans:- i) Ration card issued in the name of parents having name of child in Ration Card.

  1. ii) Domicile certificate of child or of his/her parents.

iii) Voter I-Card (EPIC) of any of the parents.

  1. iv) Electricity bill/MTNL telephone bill/Water bill
  2. v) Unique Identity Card (Aadhaar) of mother/father/child issued by Govt. of India.
  3. vi) Passport in the name of any of the parents or child.

Rent Agreement is not a valid proof of address.

Q.22. What are the documents that can be considered as proof of Birth?

Ans:- (i) Birth certificate under the Birth, Death and Marriage Certificate Act, 1969.

(ii)Hospital/Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) register record.

(iii)Anganwadi Record.

(iv)Declaration of age of the child by the parents or guardian.

Q.23. Is income certificate necessary for DG Category?

Ans:- No. Income certificate is not required for DG Category.

Q.24. What is the age criteria for EWS/DG admission in Entry Level Classes?

Ans:- (i) Nursery/Pre-school:- Not less than 3 years and not more than 4 Years as on 31.03.2016.

(ii) KG/Pre-Primary:- Not less than 4 years and not more than 5 Years as on 31.03.2016.

(iii) Class-I: – Not less than 5 years and not more than 6 Years as on 31.03.2016.

(Relaxations of one year in maximum age in case of differently abled)

Q.25. Whether a candidate of EWS/DG category can also apply under General/Open seats?

Ans:- Yes.

Q.26. If I qualify for both EWS and DG category, then under which category should I apply?

Ans:- Any one category of your choice.

Q.27. Will there be disclosure of seats in different entry level classes?

Ans:- Yes, at the time of selecting the schools while applying online, the vacancies are also shown.

Q.28. I have two children/twins. Then what is the procedure of filling online form?

Ans:- Please fill separate online applications for both children.

Q.29. How would I know in which of the schools I have applied? Will I have choice of schools after Registration?

Ans:- After registration, the applicant has to fill the application form. In the application form, the applicant has to select & give priority to the schools in different distance ranges. Once the complete form is filled & submitted, the details of all the information including the schools opted by the applicant shall be displayed on the screen. Please take printout for future reference.

Q.30. How can I find the nearest Private Unaided Recognized Schools from his residence? How many schools can I select?

Ans:- Using login ID/Registration No. and Password, Step-I page opens on the screen showing all the details filled in the registration form. One has to fill the residential address and thereafter choose the correct Locality/Sub-Locality/Sub-Sub Locality of his residence from the Drop Down list and submit the details to know the nearest schools in different ranges (0-1, 1-3, 3-6, >6 Kms.) in Step-2 to Step-5 button.

If Locality/Sub-Locality/Sub-Sub-Locality where one resides is not available in the drop down menu, then choose the nearest Locality/Sub-Locality/Sub-Sub-Locality from the drop down list.

You can select any number of schools shown till 6 Kms but maximum 5 schools beyond 6 Kms.

Q.31. Can one change/modify the information after submitting the online application?

Ans:- Yes. For this purpose, use the link for the deletion of existing application form provided on the main link ‘EWS/DG Admissions 2016-17’. Follow the instructions given on the deletion page and after successfully deleting the existing application, fill the form afresh. Please note here that after deletion, your existing registration number stands invalid for the admission process.

    im in the category of OBC, my child is 4 plus of age he has not gone to any school can he get admission under DG category in 2018 his date of birth is 29/06/2013.

    Sir I already get my daughter addmission in private school on bases of ews category by income certificate. Now after 4 years her school admission incharge saying that you have to show your income certificate once again every year. So I want to know can I submit my obc certificate instead of income certificate, because every year not possible for any body to apply income certificate in SDM office because that office get so many time to make a certificate and demanding for more papers. Please help me in this regard what to do with my side. And what is for alternative option for me.
